Dressed in sandy desert colours with a 1970s feel, water resistance to 300 m and 5-day power reserve. This is the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Day Date Desert Edition.
Limited to 500 pieces, the new Bathyscaphe Day Date features a chromatic palette that evokes the desert, that of Death Valley, where photographer Ernest H. Brooks II dove in 1962. Thus, the 43 mm case is equipped with a unidirectional bezel in brown ceramic, while the dial appears in sand beige – a hue that extends to the canvas strap – and features a layout reminiscent of its 1970s predecessor, with sturdy hour markers and a chapter ring with large Arabic numerals in 5-minute intervals and small red squares at the base. This chapter ring evokes the inner rotating ring of the 1970s watch.
Inside this model beats the automatic caliber 1315 DD with three winding barrels and 5 days of power reserve. The sapphire crystal caseback reveals the movement, with special emphasis on the NAC-treated gold rotor.
