A fusion between anatomy and medicine, the “wearable sculptures” by the artist from Porto Olga Noronha surprise by the innovative concept, the result of an intellectual study about the human body.
The innovative project “Jewelry Medically Prescribed” earned Olga Noronha great national and international recognition. Olga Noronha’s creations are an intellectual, sometimes poetic, study of the human body. In her work, the jewelry designer explores the fusion between anatomy and medicine, through her “wearable sculptures”. In this way, the artist – fascinated by medical-surgical rituals – seeks to approach the human body from an artistic and philosophical perspective, relating it and completing it with objects that are foreign to it and that give it complexity and abstraction. Thus, combining medical-surgical interest with training in jewelry, Olga Noronha has been developing a unique language in the body-jewel relationship, manipulating medical materials, and converting them into sculpture objects that merge with human anatomy.
Alongside this project, Olga Noronha recently developed a line of high jewelry – at the invitation of Boutique dos Relógios Plus -, where medical materials, namely needles, are dressed in precious metals and gems, to give life and body to necklaces, rings, earrings and brooches.
