Until the end of May, Boutique dos Relógios Plus Art, on Avenida da Liberdade, in Lisbon, hosts an exhibition of pieces by the Porto artist Olga Noronha, whose innovative project “Medically Prescribed Jewelery” gained HER national and international recognition.
In her work, the jewelery designer explores the fusion between anatomy and medicine, through her “wearable sculptures”. Olga Noronha’s creations are an intellectual, sometimes poetic, study of the human body. In this way, the artist – fascinated by medical-surgical rituals – seeks to approach the human body from an artistic and philosophical perspective, relating it and completing it with objects that are foreign to it and that give it complexity and abstraction.
Thus, combining medical-surgical interest with training in jewelery, Olga Noronha has been developing a unique language in the body-jewel relationship, manipulating medical materials and converting them into sculpture objects that merge with human anatomy.
Part of the artist’s work is now available to be admired in Lisbon, at Boutique dos Relógios Plus Art. During the next three months. Alongside the exhibition, Olga Noronha also presents a debut: her first line of high jewelery, developed by invitation and exclusively for Boutique dos Relógios Plus.
It is a collection of jewels, where medical materials, namely needles, are dressed in precious metals and gems, to give life and body to necklaces, rings, earrings and brooches.
