One of the most emblematic Rolex models, the Submariner has evolved over the years and certain variations have captivated collectors. This is the case of the Oyster Submariner 16610.
Launched in 1953, the Rolex Submariner quickly enjoyed enormous success among watchmaking aficionados and remains today as one of the brand’s most appreciated models. Over the years, certain variations of the model have captivated collectors. The Rolex Oyster Submariner 16610 is among those references.
The brand introduced the Submariner 16610 for the first time in 1987. Highlighted by the steel construction and the aluminum bezel, part of the fascination of this model is precisely in these characteristics, which were not carried over to the following Submariner variations. In addition to these attributes, the Rolex 16610 brought some other design elements that are important in the evolution of the collection. An example is the change from tritium to LumiNova in the luminescent material of the dial or the change from perforated to non-perforated lugs.
