The Piaget Altiplano collection receives, in 2021, two new models: an Ultimate Concept and a 35 mm Altiplano.
Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tribute to La Côte-aux-Fées
After winning the Genève Watchmaking Grand Prix last year, the world’s thinnest watch, the Altiplano Ultimate Concept, returns in 2021 in a green version in honor of the Swiss village of Jura, La Côte-aux-Fées, where Georges Edouard Piaget founded the manufacture and where the design, development and creation of all the ultra-thin Piaget movements are carried out.
In terms of technical features, the new Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tribute to La Côte-aux-Fées remains the same as its predecessor, with a case only 2 mm thick that integrates the movement itself, a 0.2 mm sapphire glass (the usual 1 mm), a winding barrel without cover mounted on balls or the telescopic flat crown. The big difference lies in aesthetics, with the new model featuring a bridge, screws, hands and a green “forest” dial, reminiscent of the village of Jura where Piaget was founded in 1874.
Altiplano Origin 35 mm
The Altiplano is, without a doubt, the most emblematic watch of the entire Piaget collection, created in 1957 and recognized until today for its compliment to the extra-plane and for its simple and elegant design. In 2021, Maison returns to its origins with the new Piaget Altiplano Origin 35 mm. This model, available in three versions – rose gold, rose gold with diamonds and white gold with diamonds – follows the concept of the extra-thin, with a 35 mm and 8.1 mm thick case.
Inside the new Altiplano Origin models is the 501P manufacture movement, with 43 hours of power reserve, whose oscillating weight with the Piaget coat of arms is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. On the dial, 12 baton indexes echo the straight, slim shape of the gold hands. At 8, the “Altiplano” signature is visible.
The final touch is given by the crocodile leather straps, bright red for the rose gold versions and deep blue for the white gold declination, with gold pin buckle. This model also offers a quick bracelet exchange system, so you can choose other colored Piaget bracelets.
