Roger Dubuis’ Hyper Horology concept takes shape in 2021 with the reinterpretation of the Excalibur Single Flying Tourbillon.
In 2021, Roger Dubuis reinterprets one of its icons – the Excalibur Single Flying Tourbillon – through a new design and a series of developments that include a new rose gold alloy and a technique that makes diamonds luminescent.
The new design of the Roger Dubuis Single Flying Tourbillon features clear cut lines on the case and on the movement. Creating the impression of a thinner appearance, while increasing the feeling of transparency and depth, the caliber is rebuilt from the bottom up in an architectural feat that sees Roger Dubuis’ star now levitating freely above the barrel.
The new caliber RD512SQ features the lower cage of the tourbillon in titanium – twice as light as steel -, while the upper cage is produced in mirrored polished cobalt chrome, making the weight of the piece lighter and contributing to an optimization of the power reserve (72 hours).
Available in a 42 mm case in gray DLC Titanium, Cobalt Chrome or in the new EON Gold (a more stable pink gold tone that solves the problem of discoloration over time, often caused by the addition of copper) Roger Dubuis Single Flying Tourbillon is a limited edition of 88 pieces per case material.
Glow Me Up
The new Roger Dubuis Single Flying Tourbillon is also available in an exclusive version to Boutiques, Glow Me Up. It is a watch whose diamonds shine in the dark. The new technique used by Roger Dubuis takes advantage of the grooves cut on the reverse of the precious stones to allow invisible fixation and fills them with Super-LumiNova, which means that, in low light conditions, each diamond is illuminated from behind by the luminescent material . But not only do diamonds shine in the dark. The edges of the movement were also coated with Super-LumiNova, in order to outline and illuminate the star-shaped bridges, present in the heart of each Roger Dubuis.
Housed in a 42 mm case, with bezel set with diamonds, this piece is limited to just 8 pieces and is an exclusive Roger Dubuis Boutiques.
